Student Identification (ID) Card Students may wish to purchase a UH-NICE student ID card for $10. The ID card is not required. They will need it to use the Warrior Recreation Center and the Student Health Center. It can also be used to get local discounts at some tourist destinations.
To get the ID card, students go to the Campus Center Information Office and show them a picture identification (such as your passport). Students simply tell the ID Office staff they are NICE Program students. The staff will take their pictures and gives them IDs a few minutes later.
Warrior Recreation Center (The Gym) Our students are welcome to use the Warrior Recreation Center (the gym); also, when they are not being used for UH classes, NICE students can use the swimming pool, tennis courts, and track.
To use the gym, students first obtain a UH ID card; then, they sign up and pay at the Information Desk or at the Warrior Recreation Center.
They can join for the day ($5), the week ($10), or the month ($25). Students should bring a workout towel.
The gym has free lockers, so students can bring a lock or they borrow one for free.
Hamilton and Sinclair Libraries NICE students are welcome to use the UH libraries.
*To log into the library computers, students simply use the wireless password and user name provided by the NICE Office.
*Students do not need an ID card to enter the libraries to read, study, or do research.
University Health Services At the University Health Services, doctors and nurses can help students with common health problems, health information, or refer students to specialists in Honolulu. NICE students might be able to use their medical insurance for office visits.
Students will need to show their UH ID cards and medical insurance card If an insurance company is not on their approved list, students may have to pay the total cost, and then send the bill to their health insurance companies.
More information about the University Health Services is available at the NICE office. The NICE Office can also refer students to bilingual doctors or clinics in Honolulu.
Counseling and Student Development Center UH counselors are available at the Center to talk with NICE program students who are feeling sad or depressed, having trouble with relationships, or feeling the need to talk with someone about other kinds of problems.
Parking on Campus NICE students must pay every day for parking in Zone 20. It is free to park bicycles, but they must be parked in designated areas only. The Parking Office can provide further information.
Safety Student safety is our number one concern. Students will receive a detailed safety briefing during the first week of class. The University of Hawaii Department of Public Safety can provide further information.
Smoking UH is a smoke-free university. It has a strict, no-smoking policy. Students can not smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes or use any kind of tobacco product anywhere on campus.
Sexual Harassment The University of Hawaii at Manoa has a zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual harassment. The Office of Title IX is there to help.
Students will receive a detailed briefing on sexual harassment during their first week of class. If someone is bothering students, they should notify their teachers or the NICE Office staff immediately.
